Laminated glass is a sandwich of two or more sheets of glass with a plastic interlayer usually polyvinyl (PVB) interlayer in between. Laminated glass is a type of security glass that holds together when shattered. The interlayer keeps the layers of glass bonded even when broken, and its high strength prevents the glass from breaking up into large sharp pieces. The interlayer can also give the glass a higher sound insulation rating.
